Breast Cancer is no Fun

Really? No sh**, Sherlock. 

Anyway, I try to keep this space upbeat and cheeky, but this week, I'm going to go personal and a bit serious (but please keep reading). Being that it's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought it appropriate.

Recently, I was at a conference and heard a woman speak about her impressive Marin County startup, Everviolet - a company that produces "an intimate apparel and loungewear collection designed to nurture a woman's body and sense of self following treatment for breast cancer and other meaningful life events including other types of cancer, surgeries, post-pregnancy, menopause and even puberty." After her talk, I introduced myself to Keira Kotler, the Founder of Everviolet, and we chatted about running a startup in Marin County and about breast cancer. My wife is a 3-time survivor of breast cancer and Keira is a 2-time "thriver" (a term I hadn't heard, but like).

I know second-hand some of the difficulties in recovering from surgery, as well as the ongoing years of a changed body.
