I get it—it’s exhausting trying to do the right thing all the time. With a constant stream of bad news and daily assaults on historical standards, I wouldn’t blame you if you’ve spent the past few weeks curled up on the couch watching Real Housewives. Personally, I’ve been avoiding the news and social media since January 20—opting instead to rewatch Cheers (which, by the way, still holds up).
But recently, I decided it was time to “wake up” and start doing something. And no, this wasn’t just because of Jane Fonda’s SAG Awards speech (though, let’s be honest, she’s amazing). I started small—volunteering to text in support of a cause I care about—and now I’m looking for more ways to support my community and the planet.
So, what does this have to do with ecommerce and the stuff I usually pitch in this newsletter? Actually, quite a bit.
The merchants on ShopLocally aren’t just selling products—they’re making a difference. Whether it's supporting their local community or reducing environmental impact, they’re proof that small choices add up. Take one of our newest merchants, Rebrand Skincare—a company committed to sustainability with refillable, low-waste products. As their founder reminds us, “there’s no need to be perfectly zero waste. We’re all just trying to do better.”
So yes, we’re still talking about shopping—but we’re also talking about mindful choices. You have to buy things, so why not buy from brands that are actually trying to make a difference?
Check out how Rebrand Skincare works by reading the About tab on their microstore page, and let’s all keep finding ways—big or small—to do better.
